I suppose my computer illiteracy will glare here but I'm curious what the manufacturer put into my machine. I can't seem to find it in the manuals and don't know where to check. On the side of the computer along with the other specs it says, "8MB Nvidia TNT2 Vanta LT Graphics Card" but nothing about a sound card which it obviously has.

Thanks!!

What OS your using would help, but in general goto the control panel and look under sound and audio devices, or under multimedia, or under system-->device manager-->audio/multimedia

Heres the answer youve been waiting for...whatever soundcard you got with your machine...it sucks and you need to get a new one. Generally they put those soundblaster cards in all of the stock machines...Just about anything will be better than what you got. But thats another question isnt it?

Marty is basically right, what ever came with the computer is not going to be good for audio, but if you really want to find out:

Go to Control Panel. Chances are you will see the software for the sound device there. Chances are it will be a Soundblaster type card. If you don't see anything obvious, then click on system, and then run down and you will see some form of sound, or sound and video game control there and you click on that and it will tell you what's in the machine.
