Actually the clinic is extremely popular, and where this thread belongs. People come to the computer forum for specific help with computer issues. Just because there are lots of them, doesn't mean they can help you with your sound, which is really independent of the medium you record to! I know that can sound odd, but really, whether you use outboard compression or a compression plugin doesn't matter...you just need "compression." Specific questions regarding mixing techniques belong in the mixing forum, which is also very popular.

Tips for the clinic:

1) Be humble. If you want help, say "can you help me with this mix?" People love that kind of stuff.

2) Don't come off like an advertisement or spam....it really turns people off.

3) Reply to every single response you get, and time your responses well. That is, don't reply while you're post is still at the top of the forum....wait for it to slide down a bit, maybe you'll pick up some more responses...then, when it really starts to slide down, post a reply to everyone who has responded. This will pop your thread back up to the top where you can repeat this process.

4) If nobody responds, or not enough people respond, it's ok to say, "please, can anyone else help??!" ... as long as you don't do it constantly :)

Don't post threads to inappropriate forums just because they are more popular, it is against BBS rules....unless you happen to be Monty :)
