From the ground up, I have no idea where to start. Obviously there is no USB port. What do I need to do a complete interface? Thanks in advance, I am clueless.

I hate to bear bad news, but you can't. Well as an interface you can't. Best you can do is feed audio from the Fostex to your computer just like hooking up an external device like a cd player, but that's it. The Fostex is meant as a stand alone unit.

If it has a CD burner (not familiar with the model but own a similarly constrained Yamaha AW4416) you can burn files that way and import them to CD, rather than converting to audio then back to digital again via an interface...

That's what I did when I first started getting into using DAW's. I took my recordings on the VF 160ex, burned the WAV files to disc, then uploaded them to the computer into my DAW and did the mixing there. If you don't have the CD burner then you're out of luck, You'll have to mix on your fostex or you'll have to do it the hard way, recording track by track to your computer, hoping you can align them so you can mix them. I'd use an intro click track to each track so you'll have a place marker so you can align them without much hassle.
