How do you get a program automatically running at startup?

My CD burner's installed, but unless I've loaded the program that came with it, it's a pain to work with - pushing the button on the burner doesn't get the tray open, etc. So I want to get Win98 to load that program on startup automatically, so that its icon is displayed down on the right end of the taskbar. Possible?

start - run - type "msconfig" and hit run. its somewhere in there

Mmmm... Start>Run>'misconfig'>Startup

This gives me a list of everything that's there already, most of which I've disabled. But how do I add something to this list?

Just copy or create a shortcut to in the Startup folder

Okay, here's what I tried: I copied the application I want running on start up into Windows>All Users>Start Menu>Programs>Start Up.

Here's what happened: when I rebooted the computer, it launched the program.

But that's not what I want, I want the program to be loaded, but to run in the background, with just its icon in the taskbar for evidence of its existence. How do I do that?
