How audio/midi interface work?

Lukas, if you want to do live mixing, I suggest software like Ableton (see above post) or something similar. Depending on your budget, this Ableton's sweet spot. You have your MIDI mixing, analog, looping, glitching or live effects processing, Everything you need for live mixing, like EDM.

There are other programs out there, but this one I know and have played with this part of it. Sometimes I would add in full songs and do crossover and key matching, I have tried taking different songs and getting them to the same beat (But I didn't rap! That would be just wrong.) I have seen people use Ableton with live vocals, instruments and Ableton being used as live synthesizer, effects machine. But not recording at the same time.

Anyway, for live use, that is the type of software is what you want. I also suggest a controller if you do go that route.
