how are these mics?

Hi I just 'inherited' a few microphones and Im wondering how they would rate for being used in live performance, not so much recording.

'audio-technica PRO4L'
and
'Realistic - Omnidirectional Dynamic Microphone 500ohms'

and what does '500 ohms' mean?

The AT pro 4L is a fine mic for live performance. I picked up a used one on ebay for $15. It is a rugged professional quality microphone and you can steal them on ebay routinely. The Radio Shack mic you should avoid IMHO.
 
Yes. Realistic is the house brand of Radio Shack. The AT Pro4L is a cardoid dynamic mic that you can use like a Shure SM 58. It is a vocal mic that you can use for instruments as well. You can use it live or record with it.
