How would you compare them with other low cost monitors, such as Truth for example ? Are they reasonable for recording work ?

I know the Behringer Truths very well, and although they are not very good as main mixing monitors they do reveal some problems in mixes done with other hi quality monitors. Could you say the same about the samson ?

Thanks

I have Samson 80a..they sound like car speakers, lol could be good, and could be bad just depends. But if i had another chance i wouldn't have got them.

They sound like they are wrapped in cloth. The kicks, bass and so on are niiiice but the high end is not clear enough. They translate pretty good as far as i can tell, but i dont qualify to judge the translation,i dont think i'm good enough.

For the price they are good, but to have a good monitors they are not, just my opinion.

OK, I got them, and my first impression is that they are great bang for the buck !! I mean, they're not the highest end monitors you can find of course, but are just as good, and even better than Behringer Truths, Alesis Prolinear / M1, some KRK's I tried... Of course I need to start actually mix on those and check out the results, but as far as I checked various mixes and some records they are quite accurate. Easily revelad metallic highs on mp3 files vs Wav. as well., great resolution. The only problem I can see so far is the that they tend to fatigue your ears quite fast with certain music (checked out some Red Hot Chili Peppers). But for 200$ .... They're great.

(Using the +6db setting btw)

i'm starting to think this "ear fatique" is only a temporary stage as the ears adjust to studio monitors from the soft, pleasently eq'd, scooped, consumer speakers....as someone said "Studio Monitors aren't supposed to sound good."

the devils in the details, as we advance in skills, the ears start picking out more subtle things....??

if this is true, the very first set of studio monitors I had were actually quite ok then?
i got rid of them because of too much mid's...ear fatigue, ear bleed mids...

looking back i was comparing them to a lifes worth of Consumer Audio listening speakers!

Surprised the HIGHS are not present...i thought these are the Ribbon tweets??
its all about design and materials... my physics buddy said "yeah ribbon, it can move faster than most tweeter designs....so there's your high freq".
