How about a "New Release" section???

I was looking at DavidK's thread about his new CD, which I find nothing wrong with him doing here, by the way. We're all trying to get ahead in our own way, and the man did it with class, which he always does. But it got me thinking. It would be nice if we had a "New Releases" section, or whatever you'd like to call it. I know this section is about promoting your band, but the subjects are pretty diverse.
If we had a section where you can post a link to your CD, nobody would feel un-comfortable doing it. We could have a rule that it's only for promoting a CD or "Music for sale", not just putting links to websites. We have a "for sale" section for gear, why not a "for sale" section for the reason we're all here...OUR MUSIC. Just a thought.

My new CD is out and I've already shipped a few to people from here who have ordered it. I was going to start a similar thread to David's, but I don't want to look I'm trying to compete or rain on his parade. That's what got me thinking about a section just for that so nobody's walking on anyone else's toes.

Anybody who hangs in the mp3 clinic has heard Rami's stuff, its among the best stuff I have heard here

I think its a good idea. IMO, this section should be devoted to discussions of methods to promote music, and should not turn into an avenue for promotion. This way, as the board gets more popular we won't have to wade through 40 posts of "ChEcK oUt My NeW cD!!!!1!!!1!!" threads before finding the post about eye catching fliers.

Its not a bad idea. The best way i can think of to avoid the junk links to www.somedumbsight.com would be to set up a contact e-mail that the mods have. Then create a webpage buy Genera of music with links to where to preview and buy board member music.

Yes...Azraelswings, you're right. That's what gave me the idea. Because sooner or later, it will turn into "Check out my new CD!!!!", etc...If we have a section just for that, then people know that when they go in. And people who are looking for new Indie Music know where to go if they want to check out something new to buy.

I'm another DavidK - well a DaveK anyway. But I agree.. I've just released one and it's very difficult to know if you're going to be considered a spammer if you make an announcement. It would be fantastic if there was an announcement/release section.

The thing about HR is VERY few boards ever get added. I got the SAS board added of course I personally would like not only a forum/sticky thread etc about new releases but I would like to talk about it too. What works, what doesnt, how are sales, who pays on time, blah blah.

Obviously, since moderation is pretty much non-existent here, we hafta do it ourselves. Sure, I wouldnt want every kid with a CDR to come here and spam, but the contributors to this dump should have an area to announce their CD releases.
