Hi guys,

I'm Tamer Amin. I have been following this forum for a while now but this is my first post here. I know I can get some really good guidance so I'm going to cut to the chase. This is not really my first production but the first one I'm willing to show and get some feedback on. :)

Zippyshare.com

There are so many areas that I need to improve on, notably:-

1. Adding silent sounds to make tracks less dull.
2. Adding ear-candy variations or background noise, irregular hats, etc.
3. Getting the micro/macro transitions between each section to stop harder (tension/release kind of stuff).

At least these are the points I've realized so far. I would love to hear what everyone thinks and what exactly I should improve on. If it's regarding the points that I have mentioned above, please give me some practical examples I can use to improve in those areas. My goal is to get my composition/production skills to a world-class level so be as cruel as you can be, so i can improve! :)

Allow me to name some of my greatest inspirations/influences over the years, so you guys have an idea of the direction I want to take my music. (Earlier PRYDA stuff, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Jeremy Olander, Brian Cid, Cid Inc, Juan Deminicis, Ziger, Khen, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Sasha, 16 Bit Lolitas, Maceo Plex, Michael Cassette, Oliver Schories, Pedro Aguiar, Petar Dundov, Robert Babicz, Roger Martinez, Seth Troxler, Tigerskin, Tonja Holma, Tom Middleton, Dosem, Eelke Kleijn, James Holden)

Thanks in advance, guys!

Pretty cool song, I'd recommend using a different file host though, there's one built into the forums that works well.

The beat (kick, snare?) is kind of loud in my headphones so I had to turn down the song and had trouble hearing the other elements. Sounds like a cool song but I couldn't really hear a melody for that reason.

well, not my kind of music i normally listen to,
it sounds like it's all programmed,
and nothing is actually played...

so i'm not sure what to call it.
the kick is way too loud,
sounds good, just too loud....
it's like chinese water torture.

the bass is nice and deep, but you can't really hear any fundamental at all, just low lows....

where is this tune going....?
is there a lyric and vocal?>

it needs something, otherwise it's just the same boring riff over and over and over......

Hi Easlern,

Thank you for your feedback. I will work on the mix levels again from scratch starting with the faders alone. :) Any good resources out there that you recommend for improving my knowledge on music theory?

Cheers!

Hi Gonzo-X,

Thank you for your feedback. You are right. Everything has indeed been programmed in the box. I should probably learn to automate and play more often. I will work on the mix levels again from scratch starting with the faders alone. The music I am interested in making has very little to do with vocals. Any tips on how to create a musical resolution with this riff I've made?

Cheers!

Not sure about music theory but Bobby Owsinski wrote a great book called The Mixing Engineer's Handbook, it's helped me quite a bit. :)
