Here's my latest tune, still a couple of details in the mix to work out, but let me know if anything "sticks out" you hear needs fixing.

Actually if anyone is into collaborating, and thinks they can do a better vocal track (shouldn't be too hard!) let me know.

If you download it, please leave some brief comment at least. Thanks!

P.S., my e-mail is in the ID3 tag.

Didn't think the vocals were bad at all. Bass could use a little more definition or tone or something. Catchy tune.

Great song!

Very happy song! Great recording and sound you have there.
I have no complaints about this one!

What mics did you use to record the drums?

Sounds really good by the way!

Hey man...nice tune. Your vocal sounded great, and you did a really cool job with the backups, so I wouldn't mess around with it if I were you... (but I'm the king of "settling"). :D

If I was gonna' gripe about anything, it'd be rhythm guitars. It's like you have your voice towering over this little itty bitty pop band in the background. Don't get me wrong...it's great that your vocal is up front, and I could make out every word, but if you could get the guitars up a bit, I think the whole mix would sound "bigger." But maybe not...in fact, you may have already tried that, and it may have gotten "blurry."

Wow...that was a pretty lame dialogue I just had w/ myself there.

Nice tune.

Wow, thanks for the positive comments!

Bass guitar: the bass is actually a cheap old Hondo bass I thought I'd try out, had it for many years. Almost sounds like a standup bass when I solo it. Might try some eq/compression changes...

Drums: are not real, but it's great when people think they are! It's Native Instruments Battery, with a kit called Yello from the NI cd. I play them from the keyboard.

Acoustic guitars are an old Yamaki Japanese acoustic from the late sixties. Also on there is "The Grand" piano, and NI's FM7 doing the pad, and FM7 also doing the chorus riff.

Maybe I'll do another mix soon and see about that "tiny pop band background" thing... :- ) Still trying to come up with a better hook right at the begining.

Thanks again for the input! - G

Good Pop-Rock tune!!!Nice melody, catchy and memorable, didn't hear anything in particular, mix:D

Very catchy tune man.Mix sounds pretty good to me.Vocals are cutting through and the harmony backing vocal stuff is cool too.....thats a nice guitar solo.........the drums sound good....a little overkill on the drum rolls there in one spot.;)

Solid song all the way around.Enjoyed it!:)

updated mix

Well, remixed the tune tonight. Took some bottom end off the vocals and changed their levels, reduced the toms, panned lead more to center and a couple of other minor things...

Don't know if I'll do another mix of this, want to start on the next one! Might spend all of Christmas in the studio at this rate, good way to beat the stress!

Last mix

Ok, just did the very last final mix of this tune, I just over-wrote the original file, so download again if you're interested in hearing. Version 6.00.01 has drum fixes, louder intro hook, less noise at the end, and a couple of other fixes.

Thanks for listening!

I gotta be honest, this is not what I expected from someone named schenkerguy, but It is a very nice pop sounding tune. Not pop in todays sense of the word, but pop the way I remember it. Nice recording, clean and everything sits well.
No complaints here.

Mike
