A classical effect i found priceless is Pre-Reverb. I pitch the overdubs/adlibs down a knotch so it sounds evil, put em' all in reverse and put on different settings of reverb on them. Then back to normal and it sure sounds horror.

But do any of you know any other ways to give that eerie feeling to the listeners?

ring modulators. there are some waves plugins that can make stuff sound incredibly creepy, too... enigma is one, mondomod or something like that is another... worth checking out if you record a lot of bands that love really noticeable effects

I get some sick stuff with Destroy FX plugins. I think I use Skidder to randomly speed up and slow down vocals for a psychotic effect. It's also fun to have it bypassed and enable it from time to time when your vocalist is high.

Prosoniq's PiWarp is pretty nasty, and can do absolute wonders when used on a vocal combined with a pitchshifter (especially when dropping a vocal down an entire octave).

For adding warbly sounding nastiness to vox, I'll use Sonitus:FX Modulator.

Check out the GRM Tools, they offer really good time animation for all there plugins, the resonator plugin is really nasty.

Enigma is pretty cool too.

Any plugin that says Ohmboyz on it will be pretty sick sounding.

Antares Filter is one of the absolute finest filter plugins available. You should also check out their Kantos plugin, which is designed to convert incoming sound into a synthesized sort of sound, but when used sparingly (or not), and mixed behind the dry signal, you can create all manners of sonic mayhem
