hooking up um-2 to xp with d-loaded driver

i couldn't get windows to recognize the driver so i went to the manual online (the um-2 was given to me without the manual or driver)

so i read the manual on how to install drivers, but it is wriiten for using the disc.

can someone tell me the correct procedure for installing the drivers from a folder? i can't open the folder, no matter where it is.
