Hi there... I'd like to change the stock sounds on my (friends) drumkit with my own recorded samples, thing is I have no idea how to connect the drums with the pc and make the program (DFH for example) to actually work with the drums. How do I do this?

I need a detailed description as I'm not that technically inclined:D
What kind of cable do I need, what kind of sound card I need? Could you recommend any other programs that would be better suited for my needs?

And besides adding my own samples/sounds, I'd like to be able to sequence them, and to be able to change the sequence's also....

Thanks for your anwsers
Your input is much appreciated!

It helps to know what drums you have and what interface, buuuuttt..... Do a search, this has been discussed fairly often in recent months.

Welcome to the site. :)

It depends a lot on what software you're using, but if you have the capability to record the MIDI output from your drums, you'll be able to do what you're asking.

Probably the easiest way would be to get a MIDI interface for your PC. Go from the MIDI output on your drums. Then you can record which pads are hit and how hard, after that you can go back and assign whatever drum sounds you want to them.

-hook your drum set up to your midi interface properly. (you have one of those right?)
-set your software to record midi.
-play the drums while recording.
-assign the output of the midi file to the sample player loaded with the samples you want to play.
- if the latency on your sound card is low enough you may be able to play the samples in real time.

hth

later...
