Hello could anyone help me. I have a Tascam 4 track. I have just bought a pc and would like a basic instruction as too how to go from tape on the 4 track to CD please xcuse my ignorance. Do I need certain software etc

The basics you would need would be a cable going from the Line-outs of the Tascam to the Line-in of the PC soundcard. Typically, this cable would have RCA connectors at the Tascam end and a 1/8th" stereo jack at the the soundcard end - though this would depend on what connections your Tascam and PC soundcard require. You'd need some sort of software to record to on the PC, e.g. Soundforge XP or something similar. Then you'd need a CD burner on the PC with appropriate CD burning software - this software is usually supplied with the burner.

Which Tascam? What are you planning on using the PC for? Mixdown? Mixing/Mastering?

Either way, you need a sound card. If you want to track on your Tascam and then do the mixing on the PC, I highly reccomend a 4 in/out audio card. The Tascam 424 line has tape outs for each track which enables you to transfer 4 tracks at once to your PC.

I've got a Dman 2044 4 in/out card for sale. $75.

Hey Dave, I may have just what you are looking for. I was also interested in converting from multitrack to my puter, then burning some cd's. All on a budget (tiny) and came across "EZ Audio/ Transfer & Restoration" software by Sony. I'm a happy man, works for me! Cost was $45.00. Now I don't have to pawn one of my amps or guitars just for software. Not just yet anyways. Good luck.

What kind of computer do you have? do you know what kind of sound card is in the computer?:)

I have a P4/ 1.6 GHz with 256DDR Memory and a 60GB Ultra DMA Hard Drive. Soundblast Live 5.1 Sound Card. 24x CD-RW.
