Hey im currently setting me up a new studio. Im going try and set it up on one of my iMac DV computers. It doesnt have a soundcard but the onboard one , so I was wondering would the Firewire Audiophile be a good choice for what Im trying to do which is, Mostly rap and maybe some r&b recording, .. I want to hook up a mixer , a drum machine, some good studio monitors mayeb some amps, and my keyboard.

Would all that connect to the soundcard in the following order

FirewireAudiophie > Mixer > Drum machine, Studio Monitors, Guitar, Microphone, Headphones.

Is that correct also what type of hardware would I need to make the recording crisp like no static pops or clicks or anything. Also Im going to be recording in Cubase SX and maybe Sonar 3

What hardware would you recommend for like atleast $5000 budget.

Your order would be more like
Microphone/drum machine > Mixer > Audiophile > Mixer >Monitors/headphones

..............well......firewire and an Imac will work......i would normally expect it to be done with a tower and not an imac but i dont own any macs so who am i to say anything!?

what kind of mixer are you using?

anyway guitar, drums, drum machine and keyboard go to inputs on your mixer. mixer outputs go to the audiophile the audiophile should have outputs that you can plug your monitors up to. or you could run the audiophile output into 2 channels on your mixer so you can control the volume of them and monitor with your headphones.

what type of hardware would you need for no static or pops? more memory sticks would be my guess.

i dont think sonar 3 has a mac version.....are you using pc and macs for recording?

I have like 3 computers , a Laptop ,Mac, and a Tower PC. I was planning on doing the some recording with sonar through the tower pc which has the pci audiophile soundcard in it. Cubase with the iMac and the firewire.

I want to buy a new mixer something better than the PhonicMM1002a which I have on my tower pc.

I was also interested in the Mackie Control Universal, which will plug into the Midi In/Outs of the Audiophile right? and The Mixer would plug into the RCA (those red and white outs of the audiophile) right? and The Drum machine would go into the mixer and so with other stuff?

Also to make recording vocals sound more clear , is there any hardware to buy and plug into the mixer to make it sound better?

Thanks much appreciated

um.............damn.............i need a roommate......you interested :)

i havent heard a complaint about any spirit products
