Over all pretty good. Is this mastered ? It sounds kinda small for a finished master and kinda over-compressed to be a mix file. The snare is a bit loud, the bass could be deeper/fuller. The cymbals could be a touch louder, IDK. Good song has a rompy sound that fits the lyrics.

No certainly not mastered...wouldnt even know where to begin hahhaaa...Okay thank you i will take note...and try some of the suggestions...do you think mps mix down could be the problem for compression, as i am rendering to mp3 out of reaper?

What rate is the Mp3? The individual tracks sound over compressed to me, like your (thinking) and making your end product while tracking, let the tracks breath a bit more, then look into mastering your mix file, the final product will sound much bigger. Lets see what some other guys think. Welcome to HR.

Mp3s are like 160, 220, 320. (I think) you definately want 320, but your right, low Mp3 quality does make things sound small.

Agree with the compression thing. I'm on crappy speakers now but sounds might it might be missing some low end (that could very well be my speakers).
Sounds pretty good to me. Not crazy about the mute drop out - music and vocals seem pretty tight

Not wild about the overall sound you've gotten here, although the performance is tight, the levels seem good and there is adequate clarity. The whole thing just sounds really small and overly compressed to me.

What happened to the dynamics?? It's just flat the whole way through. Sounds fine when you listen to a little section, but kinda wears you down after a while.
The break needs some attention, the vocal gate has cut off the start of the "h" and sounds really unnatural. It's perfectly fine to hear him breathe in before the entry, and probably better to have an early 'h' than no 'h' at all. If you can, try making the break a bit longer then the 'h' might not be such an issue once you've fixed the gate problem.
The snare just pops out too much for me. It's a nice and tight sound so it doesn't need to be that loud to balance properly. Just drop it back into the mix a bit because the rest of the kit balances very nicely and the snare just sounds waaay closer than everything else.

I liked that song a lot. I'm a sucker for pop radio cuz my wife plays it all the time. I thought the arrangement and lyrics were very clever. I really like the feel of the breakdown, it was great, but coming out of it didn't quite work. I know what you were trying to do, I don't know how it's done, but I don't think you did it 
. Also, the snare needs some life. Maybe get that real snare rustle to come out or mix in a low hand clap or something to make it lively. Overall it was a fun listen.

first of all....thank god some people exist in the world that aren't afraid to break a heart to make something be all it can be...in less and fewer words thanks for the feedback...i have since updated...there is a new thread and link...those of you that commented, i WILL be listening to your tracks giving advice, although i wouldnt take it too seriously because generaly speaking i have only had a home studio for about 8 months in total...again thank you for the feedback

The song is fine, and the musical ideas are sound. The vocals are done well, and I like the harmonies. Others have commented on what appears to be over-compression, and I'm also getting that sense of 'pressure' from the whole track. However, I wonder if the track is just a bit too dry, and whether more reverb would help. I note comments about the snare, which, even though nicely present, is a bit dull, and perhaps reverb would give it the energy the song needs.
