Hey,
I didn't really know where else to put this other than Dragon's Den, but we're not sposed to talk about recording in there ;)

I'm looking for one of those sites that offers really, really low-priced subscriptions for Homerecording Magazine. I know they exist, because a friend of mine got a subscription to it for $8 about a year ago, but can't remember where he did it. I will pay the $20 if necessary, but would really like to find one of those deals. Anyone know where to find it?

Cheers!

I wouldn't bother with that mag -- IMO, I've never seen such a collection of bad info, myths & conjecture in my life!

I must 3rd the tapeop suggestion. It's simply the best recording rag out there, and its FREE ta' boot!

I subscribed yesterday. How long does it generally take to get the first issue of tape op? And, do the magazines come out on a regular or semi-regular basis?

 The mag comes out every other month, It does take a while, then you have to renew again once more.................

YOu mean you have to renew after every magazine? Or is it a renew once a year thing?

just once a year. They send you a reminder email and it only takes 3 seconds to renew online.

i subscribe to both tapeop and Recording, and i think they're both great mags. tapeop is a little more "practical" and "hands-on", where Recording gives more "rah rah" glitz about the stuff they review.

but they (Recording) DID have a great 2-part piece on "what's in your mic closet" a few months ago. that was enough to maintain my subscribership in itself.

Don't bother with Home Rec. It's so bad that I wrote them an email last month to tell them so, and I rarely do that.

As someone new to recording, I subscribed to a bunch of mags in the recent past. Recording is OK, and Tape Op rules.

another good rag is sound on sound. The price is too steep for me though, so I just feast on their free stuff:

Also good for more "computer intensive" type stuff is computermusic magazine (also from the uk). The cd that comes with each issue is usually loaded with cool free samples and good free apps, but it's also rather pricey.

I had to renew after receiving the first one to confirm the subscription............

Then it's once a year.........
