I recorded this one on the street in front of the music store I play at. I flipped the switch on the core sounds battery box to "filter". This is supposed to take out excessive bass(car and truck motors). It works pretty good I think. I had the mics clipped right over my ears, on my hat. I compressed it, and added a bit of reverb. What do you all think of the sound? Thanks Walter

Compression helping ...

Of course you have very little opportunity to develop real reverb here, but then again that is a give and take. Your creative juices are really flowing here, I mean, yer really 'living this scene'.

I hear the trucks brakes squealing, but everything is cool after 0:19.

Your equiptment seems to be doing a pretty good job of defeating the ambient noise.

The mix of the instrument and your vocal is fairly well balanced. I can understand all the words , easy, on the first listen.

That pull up you do at 2:16 ... so nice.

At 2:42, that is an 'amazing lick' ... bravo

If you can remember one day, finish a song with that type of pull up, (2:16), just set your hand like stone at the end of it and lift the guitar up to the mics very slowly, as the sound decays ... lift the body up slowly towards your hat and the mics while that last pull up chord just rings and rings in the body of the guitar, and just hold the guitar up to the mics until you can't stand it anymore ... see what ya get.

You are using compression very effectively here. Once you learn the 'magic' of compression it's very easy to overuse it. This is very tasteful and yes, I can tell it is compressed ... overall, but because you told me and I'm listening for it.

If you EQ'd the top, rolled off the top, I guess you had to, to fight the ambient noise, but you might be able to 'add some of that back in' ... that's mastering ... I dunno how ta do it ! ... yet.

Oh ... yeah, nice chord on the end , sweet !

studioviols : Man you really listen. Thanks. I wish you lived closer. You could really teach me a lot! Thanks for all of your support. If you ever get out this way let me know. Walter
