Home theatre speakers as monitors?

Not ideal but they can work in a pinch. The trouble with regular speakers is that they add their own sound to the mix. With that in mind you should do your mixes accordingly.

After completing a mix listen to it on say.... like in your car stereo or friends stereo and you'll see (hear) what you'll have to take into consideration for all of your future projects till you are in a potion to purchase flat response studio monitors.

Contrary to popular belief, studio monitors do not have a flat response. If they did, they would all sound the same and clearly they do not.

Those speakers may make much better 'studio monitors' than some of the cheaper speakers labeled 'studio monitor'. There is no way to tell from the description. You will just have to try them and see if the mixes translate.

The first thing I would do is turn off anything that has to do with surround. You need to mix in stereo, if the reciever is making your stereo signal into surround and putting things in the center or back channels, you are not hearing what you are really doing.
