ok guys i wanna make a kind of home recording studio, and these are the materials i have

eurorack behringer 16 track mixer
P4 256RAM 1.7Ghz
Line 6 Guitar Port
5 year old AIWA stereo system, with the red/white plugs to it
$100 sony headphones
shure SM48 mic
unlimited number of random wires LOL

now i think if i buy the Delta Quattro 4 in/out thing, and some good quality monitors, im set. but whats a good way to wire all this? can anyone put something together? thanks alot in advance :-)

You have the basics. I would use your computer for recording. You'll need to get some software to record with. There are lots and it depends on your budget.

Also get a soundcard. Again it depends on your budget and how many ins/out you need.

Monitors can be cheap or expensive. You have many choices. You can either get passive (unpowered, need a seperate amp) or active which have an amp built in to the monitors. Again depends on budget.

Wiring up-
1. plug any mics or Guitar Port into the behringer mixer
2. come out of the mixer into a soundcard
3. record onto computer software and mix
4. plug your speakers or monitors into the outs of the mixer or soundcard
5. plug headphones into mixer

Be more specific of what you want to record and your budget and will be able to help you more.

k i have recording software. i got cakewalk pro audio 9, sound forge 5.0, and sonic foundry vegas 3.0 . i also got fruity loops for drum tracks.

now about the sound card. the thing i mentioned (quattro gadget) is a 4 in 4 out little box that hooks in through ur USB and records the output into 4 different channels. now i only have 2 outputs on my mixer (left and right)... if i buy a good sound card, how would it help me? my budget is around 400-500 for everything

ok which behringer mixer do you have?

Also, do you need the soundcard to be USB?

Why not go for the Delta 44 or 66. They have 4ins/outs. Delta 66 also has digital ins. Delta 44 is cheaper.

alrighty i got the eurorack MX1604A, 16 channel. no the soundcard doesnt need to be usb type, i just dont know the better of the two... and right now im gonna go check out those 44s and 66s

Ok I used to have the 1604A and you can have up to 6 outs.

1- left main out
2- right main out
3- left alt 3-4 out
4- right alt 3-4 out
5- aux send 1
6- aux send 2

So you can go from the 4 outs on the mixer into the 4 ins on the delta. Then record up to 4 seperate tracks at a time on your software.
