For 5G you should be able to get some great shit man. Look for clearance items, discontinued items, that kind of thing, my way of doing it and save a ton. Check on the forums here, great advice, most of the time the difference between a discontinued item and it's replacement is irrelevant but sometimes it aint, the MXL 2003A is a good example.
