Home Studio 2002, Sound Card Killer?

Hello,

Here are my hardware/software specs

Windows ME (Bleh!)
1 Gig Athlon
60gb HD - 1 10 gb partition used as slave storage
256 mb RAM
NVIDIA Video (Vanta HP - must be some OEM version)
Crystal WDM Audio Codec Sound Card

I have Home Studio 2002

When I run it, it almost immediately kills the sound engine, drops out and then my sound card is disabled in ALL applications. When I close HS2002 down and try other audio, it does not work. It's as if Home Studio 2002 locks up my sound card until I reboot.

When I reboot I get some CMOS error message and half the time it freezes me up.

The only way to get my PC running properly again is to uninstall Home Studio.

I have defragged and optimized my drive.

WHAT can I so about this? Anything?

Thanks

compatability issues?

hi,
i dont have an answer for you, but is it possible that your soundcard is incompatible with 2002?
have you written to cakewalk's help yet and asked what the problem might be?
i am interested in buying HS2002, thats the reason for my interest. i recently bpught Sonar XL and im not really happy with it. just not used to it i guess. i was using home studio 9.
Anyway, let me know what happens..
