Allright,I have been posting recently and asking about the digi 002 and some like some dont.I have about 3000-3500 to spend not including the computer.I would like to know what yall would recommend for recording in that price range.Im not saying it has to equal that much i would just like a good sound so I can sell on mixtapes and maybe some independent releases.I want to know what kind of pres, mics and mixers/control surface or all in one work station yall would recomend.I am not just posting cause im curious i have the money and just want to make sure i get it done right.I know its not gonna be the next hitfactory but it will work for me and recording a couple other projects. Thanks

Presonus Firepod card and Event TR8 monitors would be a good start.

I have an m-box but i want to upgrade from that.I have pro tools le,I know its not the best but with some plugins its not bad and i also just bought the m-audio bx5 a monitors.

are you finding the Mbox and Pro Tools LE too limiting for what you want to do?
What instruments do you plan on recording...and how many at a time?

Huh??? Where is the M-Box weak???

Keep in mind also that if you get a brand of I/O other than M-audio or Digidesign, you will not be able to use your Pro Tools software. You'd have to either buy other DAW software as well or get hardware that comes bundled with software.

No,im not saying its weak I just want a more hands on feel.I have decided that i just need to get some kind of control surface.I record mainly rap music so I dont need alot of inputs.Im recording only one track at a time.I was told the command 8 from digidesign would hook up to the m-box.Is this correct? Thanks for the help.

Yes of course I'm sure it would.

Before you go down the road of a control surface (and I'm not saying it's a bad idea) I would HIGHLY recommend a method of mixing in Pro Tools based around break point editing and automation. It is infinately more accurate and more precise than a control surface and no more time consuming as a result. Not to mention it's already built into your software. I think if you really dove to the bottom of the M-Box you might be shocked at how capable it really is.

I simply coundn't do my job without this method
