Just a heads up to let y’all know about a new recording “school”. Home Recording Boot Camp in Los Angeles is a new intense and fun program that teaches musicians what they really need to know to make better recordings in their own studios. All courses in these 5 day or 3 week programs are taught by veteran engineers with major label credits (1st credits, not assistant credits) and class sizes range from 3 to 8 students with lots of hands on training and lab time.

There is a world of difference between knowing your way around Pro Tools and knowing how to make records, Home Recording Boot Camp teaches skills that will help make better recordings whether you are using a 4 track cassette, Pro Tools, or a top of the line 2 inch machine. Learn the fundamentals of recording and mixing and tried and true recording tricks.
In stark contrast to the big recording schools that can take up to a year and cost tens of thousands of dollars to learn how to be an intern (by a teacher that has never made a record) HRBC is all about what you need to know to do great work in your own studio right away with out having to put your day job or music on hold. I interviewed a lot of graduates from some of the bigger recording programs and it was amazing how many, after almost a year of study, knew the automation on a Sony Oxford or and SSL, but did not really know how to mic an acoustic guitar or a drum set.
