First off thanks to everyone who offered their advice in my last
post "HELP!! - New to recording - HELP!! ". It definitely helped out allot.
So as far as the computer goes I am thinking
433MHz Celeron processor
128MB ram
10 gig hard drive (IDE)
(Does the video card matter with most programs?)
But I am still having difficulties understanding what sound card I should go for.So what would be the logical choice (in terms of quality) for this computer setup,I suppose it depends, but I just need some more info on this section.
I tried to do some researching on this topic in the bbs search and other places but Im just not getting it. Eg)Is an audio sound card interface just a really high quality sound card?
How many channels will I want if I only want to record on track
at a time, for now(do the channel abilities have an effect
on the sound cards abilitiy to play back like a lot tracks while recording?)And oh yea it has to be full duplex. And one person suggested to include 1/4 balanced line in, is this standard measure for a cable from a mixer to sound
card? (I don't want to lose any quality if I don't have to)
Yea and the preamp thing is getting me too.
I have a friend who told me that I would be better off getting a mixer
then a preamp in spite of the fact that for now I am only recording one track at a time(because of the effects)
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
