home recording for trombone and drums dilemma

i am planning to record a live jazz duo of drums and trombone at my home.
I will probably go with two large diaphragm condensers

Would a matched pair would be absolutely necessary ? or two if the same microphone would work.

I am a professional musician but not experienced when it comes to recording , and i would appreciate all your inputs.

No need for a matched pair if they're on different instruments. For jazz, a bit of experimenting will give you a reasonable sound on the drums, and same on the bone. I suspect your biggest problem will be spill!
