I made one for 99 cents.
I got an old pair of panty hose from my girlfriend, and stretched a piece over a 7" embroidery hoop I bought for 99 cents at a local crafts store. Tighten the hoop, trim the extra.
I mount it to the mic stand using a carefully bent section of a metal clothes hanger and binder clips (small clip on the emboidery hoop, medium clip on the mic stand behind the mic). It actually looks pretty professional.
Took about 10 minutes to make. It works great. Many pop filters that cost 20 to 50 dollars are the same construction (nylon streatched over a hoop).
Give it a shot. It's worth it, as long as you don't have to buy the panty hose.
