Stand Up Comity
A friend has added a guitar part to Home Alone. I think it rocks. What do you think?

Right click, Save As... here.
 
That's a BIG mix APL. Very full. A bit boomy at times, but still rockin.
And I love the tune. Very Neil'ish, but somewhat hard edged.

Whoa, that ride cymbal is killing my ear. Try nudging the volume down or eq it to make it more mellow. Things also sound kind of cluttered at the start of the song. Try some subtle fading (especially with the guitars) to bring out dominant parts and subdue the less-important parts when they come.

Yo Dog! Boomy? Yea, I know it was. Thanks though for noting "hard edged". That was my objective when I added my meager guitar(s) to Arvo's song in the truest of Neil Young fashion that I could muster after having consumed a few glasses.

Arvo, for a right wing Christian, you rock man! :) Keep it coming!
 
I've listened to a few things here this past week including the first posting of the tune. I like what I'm hearing now with this addition. I'm not hearing the ride cymbal that rocketman768 speaks of. Maybe rocketman768 needs to flatten the EQ of his listening station. Just a thought. ;)
 
Yeah, when I remixed it I tried to eq that down a little. It's a Yamaha drum machine, so there's not much I can do about it without reading the manual and learning how to program it.
 
Good job guys. I usually hear Peter Frampton coming out of Randy's guitar, but here is definately a Neil Young sound. Perfect with Arvo's vocals. I can't comment about the mix too much since I suck at mixing myself. But it soudned great. :cool:

What's BIG mean? Is that good? Someone on another forum wanted to know if Phil Spector was involved. Is that the kind of thing you're talking about? Like a wall of sound?

Lots of sound, definitely. Sounds like the compressor might be pumping the mix, or the MP3 conversion is doing it a bit. But, lots of sound... :D

Lot's of sound indeed, Dog! :)

APL emailed me a 192 Kbs mp3 file of the song (not like we were working with wave files). I burned a disc and imported it into my DAW onto a paired track and added a few guitar tracks. I didn't apply any compression to the stereo track mixdown.

I don't hear any pumping, but then...my ears just may be friggin' shot from having stood in front of blasting amps for too many years or cranking headphones when listening to CDs. Lady of the house swears that I hear nothing she says! :)

I want to thank Arvo for allowing me to mix it up a bit with him! It was fun.
 
This is such a great tune APL/60's Guy. Perfect match between the songwriting and the added guitar part(s). I really enjoyed it!
