Stand Up Comity
Since I've learned a little, I remixed Home Alone which was my first home recording project. This is all the same trax I had when I did it before.

What do you think?

The old version of Home Alone is here.

The updated version is here.

There really is no simple way to describe how cringe-worthy this material is.

Gonna listen to this in few minutes but...

Why would "in control" be listed as the last post in this thread on the forum page, but not appear in the actual thread. Was he just banned? Maybe no way to know now because I'm currently listed as the last poster to the thread. :D

I noticed that, too. Strange.

apl - I can hear compression on the new mix.

Is there too much? When I did the first version, the only compression I had was in Wavelab Light, but now I've got the compressor/gate/limiter plug in for Cubase LE.

Well, my rule of thumb is, if you can hear it, it's too much.

BTW, are you ever gonna approve me as a friend on MySpace?

Well, I can't hear it! :D

When I first did it, I had discovered REVERB! Now I've discovered compression.

Who are you in myspace land? I don't hang out there much.

Keep in mind I was listening on crappy computer speakers at work. But I detected a faint amount of pumping.

I go by my given name. You'll know it's me by the picture of me playing my Silvertone "goofy hand."

why don't you two get a room already!
damn!
myspace girlies.

I like this tune, APL. I hear something, but it could be the MP3 conversion. Do you have a higher bitrate version? You could email it to me, and I'll post it, if you want.

I don't wanna screw up the soundclick stats!

OK, Mad & Dog, I've turned down the compression and reposted on my soundclick page.

Is that better?

Now that I've heard the version with the 60's Guy this sounds more hi-fi. It's cleaner and clearer but I am torn between the two versions - damn they're both good. I like the hi-fi of this one but I also like the "wall of sound" Spector version of the other one!

I listened to the most recent version. Very good tone quality and balance in the recording IMO. Since this is a remix, you might not be looking for performance comments, but I'm going to give some anyway. :p

The vocal has a relaxed rhythmic feel that suits the song. The guitar solos have a passionate quality but tend to lead the beat a bit... at first I was thinking it would sound better if the gtr wasn't pushing the beat, but actually it's effective re the song's subject, as it conveys a sense of unrest that contrasts the vocal style. Song-wise, the tune would be a little stronger IMO if it was a minute shorter.

This is very Neil Young as you mentioned on soundclick, but its still original.
the recording sounds good, good balanced mix.
Good playing, great vox, very relaxed and good on the ear. :)

maybe lover the keys a bit, or some more verb on them, they were abit to close upfront on a few occasions, specially before the last solo.

A thumbs up from naka
