Very briefly. having a great adventure on the road in Spain!

I picked up a dynamic mic. Its a Fonestar and it cost 24 Euros. Cheap yes! I also have rechargable batteries for charging in the car.

So I recorded this in the highest camp site in Spain. Hers the mic test.

The songs ARE rough recordings but I am writing lots!

So thanks for checking in with the past guys. Very good of you and very inspiring!

If your interested check these two out. All I have time to upload right now in this Cafe, Salamanca.

All the best

16. on our own. (this was just a mic test and I have made it a little better after recording. This mic aint that bad!)

20. start with me stop (lots of noise but recorded it anyway)

bye

really crispy mic there. works as good as any of your other ones..

gtrs sound nice... much better than the vocal mic.

hearing quite a bit of "mic thumping" in there too... but I suppose it isn't really that important in the scope of your critiques.

In the vein/quality/style of your other stuff...it's the "virgin-ish" of the tunes and the innosense of your music that come across very well. Lots of people just suck it up... good job, man.

for the 2nd tune... pretty much the same comments that I might say in any of your reviews could pretty much apply here too. Pretty boomy in spots and the mic thumping (that is what it is?) is fairly prominant. Some fret buzzing too.

You still come across really 'honest' decent despite these setbacks in your equipment/recordings.
I just wish you could overcome some of these problems that aren't all that hard to take care of. I realize the order of importance, however. (and being on the road too!!)

Like the birds/kids in the background!!.. some weird panning there too dude~!

Erland,
Glad to see you're still alive and well! Prolific as hell too!!!!!!!! Dude, is your publisher gettin all this? You have been writing a lot of VERY good music. If you don't have a publisher, I suggest you find one.

Seems like your silibances (the only nitpicks I can ever find in your music) sound better using this mic....

And I like it, a usual. :)

Typing while listening the first time :

clean considering your envireonment.
clean playing
clean vocal, but a tiny bit thin

mix is a little light

you are a GOOD singer

let these harmony vocal come out STRONG.

Harmony vocals in this style are GOLDEN.

The human instrument is ALWAYS more important than any other mechanical instrument.

I like the lyric, it's real, unpretentious.

It's a hopeful song, and a little silly which is very nice.

I'd like to write a fiddle part to this tune, something simple and light, something cute, 16th note modal folk scale fills ...

I'll listen again while I set-up to review your next tune.

Bring the guitar down a touch, the vocal is always more important than you think, and there are a few bauble in guitar technique, hide them.

Don't slap the guitar EVER while recording, you can add this later. All sorts of problems can result later and in your general technique and recording habits, DON'T slap the guitar !

Oh yeah, don't do that drag up thing on the fingerboard at the end of the song, you've got us all blissed out on the nice friendly tune, and then you scrape your fingers on the blackboard this is a VERY bad HABIT, watch your habits, study and understand the performer in you please, thanks for you work, good luck on your goal

First listening to 'The Last Time' :

Fade in quicker, you are make us work to hard to hear what is happening in the first 2 seconds.

Great guitar riff, I could fill off this vocal with fiddle big time.

Great conviction in your lyric and presentation.

Great hook 'I'm falling over you'

Much better harmony vocals !!!!

Let the guitar mix down at this point even softer, so you can bring it back up for the break, create some dynamic tension.

This is a KILLER TUNE !!!

The little reprieves are ripe for viola and violin duets in the Stefan Grappelli style.

Back off a little on this vocal doubling technique later in the song, let your single vocal shine out, don't rely on this vocal tripling and doubleing, Grouch rightly pointed out to me in one of my works that this can be amateurish.

I'd certainly like to hear a little simple, simple bass in here. Just a little simple bass, or maybe better ... MANDOCELLO

Nice finish !

I'll listen to this again also, as I go off and get ready for the next review ... good luck on your goal.

On Our Own

Very nice guitar as always. Great melody, coop. Really impressive that you can put out this much great stuff this quickly, E. "I'll take a chance and gimme five".

The singing 1/2 beat behind with emphasis around 1:30 is really cool. Should make a nice track for a full production.

Start Me With Stop

I am getting some low thud noise... on the right side... no biggie... :)

Excellent chord changes. I love this... a few clams, but sweet tones. Beatlesque. (Birds in the background ;))

Coop... it would be a crying shame if you didn't do something more with each of these songs... esp. these last two. Don't just ditch 'em...

Sounds like a really nice little recording box for the road... better than most 4-tracks I've heard...

Thumbs up!

Goddamn, Erland - I love your songs. They're so freakin' sweet.:) I mean it, it's so rare to find tunes as unselfconcious-sounding as yours. Yeah the mic's a little bright. But I barely even noticed the sound quality. I just love the tune (on our own)

More!

Listening with headphones ...

First off, listening to The Last Time -- Excellent song!

Sounds well recorded, but there are a few bg vocals that come in very loud (kind of hurt the ears) ... Otherwise, I love the tune itself. Very well played and sung --- dig those backgrounds (even if they are a bit loud)

Start With Me Stop -- Again, same comments as above concerning the mic (a bit brite, but may just be cos' I'm listening with headphones) ... again, dig the tune.

Good stuff!

:D

Downloaded last night. Listening at work with headphones.

Listened to both of these. I haven’t been able to keep up with all of your prolific summer challenge, but I’m glad I got to hear some of them. Sounds good as usual. As I listen, I realize how crappy my acoustic guitar sound is. Bleh!!

Nice job man
