I have had my Hofner Ignition Violin bass for about a year. The Low E string Tuning Machine gear is messed up. When tuning up the string the machine gets tight to the point where you can't turn it anymore. This is not an issue of string tension and nothing is obstructing the pin. I believe that a few teeth on the gear are bent and causing it to tighten up. I found a website to purchase a replacement (Genuine Hofner Tuner Keys) but i was hoping to find an upgraded tuning machine so i don't have to replace once a year. Any recommendations? There are 2 lefts and 2 rights one this bass.
