i have a pc with a micraphone a guitar and a drum kit. i'm thinkin im just gona use sound forge to record and layer instruments and i was wondering if somone could offer some simple tips on seting up a room for optimual recording? also im as new as you can get to recording. does anyone know a good site where i can look that explains recording?

I'm thinking if that's all you've got, your going to be one disappointed man.

A stock sound card with a PC mic?

I'd get a better interface and mic before I spent anything on room treatment.

More bad news. Soundforge is not a multitrack recorder.

Actually I don't mean to spam but here is a recording done with Audacity and a cheap microphone its not the best but I think he did a pretty good job.

Note:Allthough My name is in the band list but I have never contributed to the recordings and I don;t think anyone else has either Its pretty much my friends uncle.
 
do you mean that i cant record more then one channel at once? if thats was the case i was going to record all instruments seperately with only one mic then layer them together with sound forge. does that sound like it would work? im not looking to make a profesional quality production im mostly just messing around and trying to learn a thing or two about recording that might help.
