I have a MR-8, which I really love. I want to transfer and do extra work with songs on the computer. I was wondering what a good yet cheap program is. I want one that has effects mainly noisegate and compressor. And maybe a good drum machine? Thanks in advance all

Not sure how you would actually get the tracks onto the computer. Does the MR-8 save each track as an independant WAV file?

If you're looking to do some mastering on the final stereo mix, I would look into Adobe Audition or Sound Forge (formerly from Sonic Foundry, now owned by Sony). Neither of these are cheap, but would be best suited for the job.

You could possibly get by with something like Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 which will run you $70.

brzilian,
Funny, you mentioned that Sound Forge was formerly from Sonic Foundry but didn't note that Adobe Audition was previously better know as Cool Edit Pro!

Massive Master..

That program is wonderful, lacks drum machine, but am happy without it. The program has barely and menus to go through, features are right there, complete digital mixer, with effects. Great recording tool, I suggest you give it a try!

Can't really make use of it, not enough "juice" - However, I'll be sure to put you down as another one of those guys who says good things about it! :D

And at some point, I'll probably still install it and phase/null some rendered files with it... I'd like to see how it performs under pressure...
