Eh,...

most of the people on this thread said these recordings suck, outright.

I've already said that I like them, and the reasons why.

I don't really care if noone agrees with me. It wouldn't be the first time. ;)

You get some enjoyment out of these recordings, or you don't. Either way is fine with me.

hey i don't think they are that bad to be honest. i've heard way worse singers and guitar players who thought they were the shit. this guy just seems like he's having fun and recording songs that he likes and not being cocky about it or anything. and i'd rather hear him singing an octave down if that's his range than trying to stretch for high notes and coming up flat like most crappy singer's i've heard. i definitely give this guy an A for effort, cuz he's been able to finish 50 more covers than i ever have. but then again the one time i tried to cover a song i was way over-ambitious with how i wanted it to sound and was embarassed once i couldn't get my guitars to sound anything like the original. anyway, i sort of agree with A Reel Person in that i kinda like these covers.

Well, I like these recordings because...

it's lofi, but the guy plays with a lot of spirit, and the songs hang together pretty well. It's totally amatuerish, and not "pro" or anything similar to what you hear on the radio. In production terms, these songs sound almost nothing like their original versions. Just stripped versions of cover tunes recorded on a handheld recorder. I've done better, and I've probably done worse. Recording 50 covers is an achievement, however lofi and stripped they may be. It's just 4-track production, and I like 4-track music a lot. I like amatuer, lofi, quirky sounding stuff too, believe me I've heard a lot of it on the web, and I think this guy represents a lot of what home recording is all about.

Sure, I'd probably recommend the guy upgrades his recorder, but I hear what he's trying to translate onto 4-tracks, and I can appreciate it for what it is. I have a solid base in 4-track recording, and I think I know what is good and bad production for 4-tracks. These cuts are all lofi & amatuerish, but are highly entertaining despite it all. I like lofi music as long as it's entertaining.

I'm sorry for describing it as "no talent" music, above. Poor choice of words. It takes talent, but it's not what I'd think of as "mainstream" talent.

Rock on, dude!

I agree, this seems to be a fella who recorded a bunch of songs he liked for the fun of it. He doesn't deserve to be monstered for it.

Some of us like the fun involved in even owning a thing to record stuff on.

Good on him, I don't give a rat's fucking ring about the quality.

Clap, clap for a lot of songs this fella would have enjoyed doing
