:D Don't feed any illusions - he may try to do another 50!!! ;) :p

Let him do it! No one forces you to listen.
What message should we send to the young ones?

"Don't come here unless you're the prof!!!"

He asked for help. He was brave enough to post what he can.
He doesn't deserve to be "sloughed" here.

Go for it radiofreesrini

Call it a "reality check"...............

Oh my...
This was bound to happen.
Those classic songs.
Those classic performances.
Those overwhelming 52 hit classics that you just cant deny are so bad that they make you cringe :( .

Its the shakers.
When he starts in for the overdubs with the shakers thats where the formidable "cover art" shit hits the fan.
How in he hell are you gonna lay down a percussive instrument on a rythm section that sounds like it has just been shot with a tranquilizer dart?!

hee hee green river mixed with long cool woman. I'll never hear communication breakdown the same again. Oh well, took some guts to put this stuff on here.

Dream on! :D

Well I don't think I can name one song that I can play straight through on guitar, bass, and vocals. 52? That in itself impresses me. And it must have been pretty fun.

I listened to a handful. They're not so bad. Hell, built in mic?

There is a lot to improve (as you may have picked up from all the comments ;-) ). Personally, the first step I'd take to make better recordings is to use a click track.

I think you've got obvious talent. The feel is there. I'd just slow down and put some more care into the performance and the recording.

Why hasn't radiofrin whatever it is posted again? It's only polite to acknowledge contructive criticism after all :)

The fact that its his first post says three possible things Garry.
And i may be wrong but here goes.....

1.He is someone who dwells here often. But is afraid to post his stuff.

2. He's posting his crap everywhere. And is getting bashed across the net right now. So he dosent reply.

3. He saw the "i want your old 4track recordings!" thread, and thought hed post "52?!" :o songs in an attempt to make our ears bleed.

Pick your poison.
Id be surprised if we saw him again.

I liked it,...

alright. Surprised? Of course not!

It was fun to listen to these left-field takes on well known songs. His stylistic stance is very strong & consistent. It's not the most gloriously best recording I've ever heard, in fact some sound kinda trashy, but I'd never say that I've not produced similar sounding recordings, at one time or another.

There's nothing wrong with shakers, as percussion goes, but I'll admit I have no clue what is a PS-04. I take it, it's the Korg Pandora recorder? Isn't that the PX-04? Forgive me, I'm not up on my handheld recording devices.

I'd like to hear a truly fine set of recordings from this guy, in all his stylistic glory. The PS-04 may not be cutting it.

The U2 song is where he absolutely shines in performance, but the recording is seriously redlined.

There's a certain inconsistent quality in his consistencies, which I know is a contradiction of terms, so don't go all apeshit on me, over that statement.

There are certain bumps and thumps that are distracting, some whirring and hissing, but it was consistently an evocative take on some classic stuff, that I'd never concieved of hearing done that way. Overall, they're a fun listening bunch of songs, and it gets my thumbs up, for concept and feel, but not necessarily hifi.

I am serious. As with anything, YMMV.

Well, he's generated one of the longer threads in this forum (mixing contest aside) :) and even has some fans! Sort of. I wonder if he's reading it.

Nice guess, but no.

I'm very familiar with all Tascam Portastudios, and there is no PS-04, further, there is no Tascam Portastudio with a built in mic.

Try again.

A quick search reveals,...

it's the Zoom PS-04,... and it's barely cuttin' it.

I'd say, in all my arrogance,... a genuine Tascam Portastudio could better that in fidelity terms, by far.

I still like his stuff, though.

Call me a "fan".

Thanx.
