Hissing sounds in burned CD!

I have a 20 gig hardrive using windows XP, I also have Sonar installed. My Project studio monitors,Keyboards Audiophile2496 from PC is connected to my external mixer. My Mixer is a Behringer Eurorack MX 1604a. What could be causing the hissing sounds in my burned audio to CD? Do decibals have anything to do with it..or the latency levels? Also What is the input and output in the audio track basically? During my recording and mixing I have my latency levels in the safe zone, is that o.k.? Thank you.

are you working at anything other than 16 bit? if so, try converting to 16bit before burning your cd...
 
Latency has nothing to do with this. "Decibels," well, possibly -- if your recorded signals are not at a high enough level, if they get compressed or normalized in search of reasonable listening volume, you will just be cranking the noise floor up too.

Thanks redhead and Al chuck, I converted my audio to a 16 bit. For some strange reason it's sounding good. I want to thank you guys for the fast reply. I have one question though. How do I compress. I have no idea if i've done that or not. I'm not sure about compression. Can you briefly explain this to me. But thank you so much guys. You guys are great!

Compression changes the audio dynamics of a track. It reduces the difference between the lowest and the highest amplitude of a track by reducing the amplitude (volume) peaks, especially useful for recording vocalists who have a dynamic range of loudness and softness greater than most other instruments. It allows engineers in the final mix to boost levels too.

Normalisation should never be used really. It expands the volume range of a track to the highest extent before distortion occurs. But it also boosts all the noise too, as AlChuck says, the Noise floor. And you can't Undo it to return to where you started from, it is a destructive fx.

You'll find a compressor in Edit>Audio Effects. although I don't have Sonar (HS2002)

Not to be nitpicking, but if Sinku's recordings were anything BUT 16 bit, wouldn't he be hearing nothing on the burnt CD? Just wondering....

I think some burning apps will down/upsample and change the sampling rate as part of their process if you feed them non-standard audio data.
 
I see, that might explain why it sounds better if you convert it yourself prior to burning.
