I have a problem with my Samson CO1 condensor microphones....
I have found they have started producing a lot of background hiss or white noise (like distant rain) - 2 of them.
I wondered if I have blown them up or damaged the diaphram inside.
I have tried them with different leads, and on two different desks and still they produce the same effect.
Now, they were working perfectly fine and I was getting a really clean, loud and crisp signal from them. But they produce this , even if I change the leads, the desk, both with phanotm power.
Its not room noise and although I can filter it out with a gate - you hear it everytime a voice speaks anyway. Yes, I isolated them away from compressors and other processors! My Rode Broadcaster microphone works a treat on both desks, leads, etc.
I do turn off the phantom power before plugging them and unplugging them, but did have a problem with the leads once with a short, which meant they kept cutting in and out. I have repaired the leads (all balanced by the way) and up until last week I had no problems.
I could understand one of them going down, but both - very strange. I am hoping there is an obvious solution, but not so sure.
Any thoughts?
