i re-mixed a song 'Ghetto Clique' that i co-wrote with one of the lead rappers in my old go-go band.

the new version of the song is doing pretty well on people's mix tapes and is selling as a single in a few mom & pop stores in the DC area.

give it a listen and tell me what you think.

go to http://www.crosstudio.net under the audio samples section.

the song is getting its first air play on DC's WKYS (93.9) tonight (6/2/02).

its got a local flavor to it. something that can get us a local core audience that we can build on.

WOW,

that is one heck of a performance.

The talent has one heck of a voice and emotion.

The mix is balanced and invisible. Great Job

This is definitely ready to conquer radio.

Congrats.

Funk on!

was that the 4033 on vox. I know you have one. If I did not know better, I would say it was a Neumann u87 into an API.

AT4033 into a mackie 1604vlz...

thanks for the reply, anything you hear that you'd make better?

Yo, That's decent go-go. I replied to another post in the mix and master section. Where are you located in DC. I am chill'n out in Landover, MD. I was thinking about com'n thru and check'n you guys out. Maybe we colab on somethin. I'm currently working on a solo effort. Holla back

Three thumbs up!

Im listening to the song on some shitty computer speakers right now and its sounds damn good which says alot..in fact better than some top commercial stuff that I have heard on the same speakers..which means it definitely should translate well on most systems for sure.

I,ll holla back after giving it a listen in the studio..

Im proud of G! Youre well on the way...and i like the website..
real smart simple layout..good job!!!!

some diffent ish!

track sounds good, a serious blend of styles. I wouldn't even know how to categorise this if it was broken down to that, you got the rastamon on vocals, background vocals I don't know what style to categorize as,beats a mix of styles, nice production,-------------send it to the world chart show!

the musical style is called Go-Go and it is indigenous to the Washington DC area. the most famous Go-Go song was Doin' the Butt by Experience Unlimited back in the 80's (it was in Spike Lee's School Daze soundtrack).

we took that basic swing, and put more hip-hop into it.

i'm glad you all liked it. we re-recorded it 3 times over a 2 year period before we got it right.
