hey, wasup! I have a quick question I'm sure you've seen before.

I'm mainly inspired by DMX, NAS, JAY-Z, JERMAINE DUPRI, WU-TANG CLAN, THE NEPTUNES etc... when it comes to Hip-Hop/R&B.
Where can I find phat sounds similar to the ones used in their music.

I currently use ALESIS QSR, EMU PROTEUOS 2000, JV1010. Any ideas?

well you have everything you need....get a MPC2000xl or if you can afford it get a 3000...what you want to do sample all of the good drum sounds out of all of your equipment (the mpc's make them sound more powerfull) into the mpc. Or go down to your local studio and make friends with one of the producers there and talk him into giving you some of his drum kits :D ... (this is what I did but every one tells me I sound like him)....or find some old records and sample (which I don't do) or some cd's

and also don't use presets....try to change the sound a little so people won't be like "he just using a proteous and a roland

and the biggest thing....don't try to produce like JD, RZA, the Neptunes...try to take it a step farther create your own style thats why all of those cats are out there know...they don't sound like any one else...

neo matrix. take the advice of rassizzm.

flip the presets. change em up run em through filters and stuff.

do what i do. get rid of the radio and turn off bet and mtv. i have my own style and sound. my name is picking up in the bay area. why? because i do my own thing. heres an example:http://artists2.iuma.com/preview/ipfreelee

no one is doing anything like that. stream the audio in real time. u will say that it is 100% different.

hey

the mpc3000 has the smpty (you know what I mean)
the effects board built in
it has the 8 outputs build in
I think the digital spdif
and 2 midi ins and 4 out

the 2000xl is plain and your almost spending the same amount once you add all the upgrades....but you won't have the four midi outs just 2 in 2 out

that was phat

czar of bizarre --
that song is jammin. what equipment do you use? if you added some vocals to that it could be a hit song.

czar of bizarre, that song was tight!

I was very impressed, honestly. :)

peace...
