Outlaw, there are many different brands to choose from when it comes to effex,drummachines,keyboards etc.
1st determine your budget. (Also include into your budget a mixing board or if your'e going digital,good sound card and recording software).

you can then ask myself and the many others who can assist you in trying to help you with the right purchases for you needs.

Well I tell you about what I do for fun. My friend and I have been making up rap songs for about 5 years now. But we have no music just lyrics. So we are just wondering what is the best equipment to go with and what kind of equipment. So is there some type of device you can buy that will pump out different beats? So basiclly if I buy Dj equipment will that solve my problem? Thanks

1st you need some decent mics,a 2-phono/line
input mixer, a good amp and some speakers.
But as far as putting your lyrics to drum beats,check out the Boss line of drum machines. Their drum machines range from
$250-$500.00. I personally own the Boss Drgroove machine,but I use this machine when
I try to compose some my songs.Korg also puts
out some higher-end machines.
For drum machines, look into WWW.ROLAND.COM (USA division) or WWW.KORG.COM. My younger brother started out like you(He's deep into rap) and now he has a nice project studio,with all the ingredients (even registered himself with ASCAP) which he has
professionally recorded some rap songs he sent out for mastering.

input mixer, a good amp and some speakers, and a bass drum machine I should be set them? So if I got all them things togethor I should come up with something? So we don't need no music insturments (ex guiter,piano,flute)cause we don't know how to play instuments. So to sum it up if we put this stuff togethor and played around with we would get the beats that we want? Thanks for your help and sorry for being a retard.

Well you would start with, learning your drum machine, being that will be your source of creation: sampling,drum patterns etc.., then setup everything learn how to seperate tracks: kick-1, hihat 2, snare 3, vox1-4 etc
then from their you are on your way.
You may need a keyboard if you want melodies,
with a drum machine all you can do is sample someone else's but if you want to learn to create, purchase a keyboard to play melodies, kind of like that sound in that "forgot about Dre" track, that EMINEM ryhmes over

A keyboard,sampler,drum machine a 4 trak mixer and a decent recorder can get you started in the right direction.
But you need to develop some real music- making' skillz to put it all 2-gether. practice and learn as much as you can about the musical portion of rap. Good luck!

get a drum machine that has built in loops that YOU like and/or a sampler and a PA system.Go into the stores and start playing around with different stuff and ask lots of questions. You can make lots of original music and beats and rhythms and sounds to rap over. You really don't have to know how to play any "musical" instruments.

It's true you don't really know how to play
a musical instument right away when your'e just starting, but try and learn some basic's
of keyboards and music so you can put in your own lil'melodic/harmonic touches to your music. My brother is from the famed "One-Finger School of Music". He plays the keyboards with 1 finger,and still manages to stay in key.
