is money an option?

if it is i'd think u should look into some progs for the cpu.

is space an option?

is yo crib an apt do you plan on using a basement a closet spare bedroom for your setup?

Most of the guys I know making hiphop beats without a CPU will tell you get a Triton a MPC and a shitload of sample cds... thats what most of the hiphop songs you hear on the radio are made with.... However be prepared to spend between $2000-$4000 just for those two pieces of equipment depending on what versions you get. Then you are gonna need a mixer, A microphone preferably a condenser mic, with the condenser mic alot of folks will tell you get a Rode its cheap $299 but great quality make sure the mixer you buy has phantom power for that mic.

Now you can accomplish this on a budget if you just want to record some shit
you will need a home stereo with a tape recorder, any mic, and a keyboard that will let you record more than 1 track at a time or a keyboard with MIDI out and a cpu with a prog installed hopefully your cpu has a cd burner in it and you can burn cds Way Cheaper get the picture?

yo thx man ya i got money and i got a huge basement to do all that shit i just need to set it up and shit cuz my studio is gonna be nutz so if u ever down here at frmaingham mass hit me up man good looks

Mass

Sup lyrikill....i'm a producer from Providence RI....not too far from framingham. Is your studio gonna be computer based, hardware or both? Check out the group i'm working with and producing at mealtix.com.

Just interested

I don't listen to much rap or hip hop but over the years I've definately noticed a vast improvement in production engineering. Not only that but I randomly catch a tune which makes me head to the computer and actually try out all those synths and samples. Time consuming work especially for a perfectionist like myself. Without a computer I would need at least a synthezizer ( If you could get your hands on a moog let's talk ) unless the synth has a sequencer and decent drum patch sounds then you could get a great sounding easy to use drum machine anywhere. Digital 4 tracks if you can get one are inexpensive and as for mic's the Neuman KMS 105 is awsome.
