figured i'd post something a bit more mellow than what i've been posting.

this was done using some basic hand percussion, and my Taylor 414, some vocals, and a couple of mics.
basic stuff.
typically, one mic on the guitar, either a ADK Hamburg, or a AT4033, pointed at the 12th fret...
run into a A Designs Audio MP-1 mic preamp, dbx compressor, convertors.
3 guitar tracks.
2 lead vocal tracks, blended, and 2 part harmony.
bass direct thru sansamp bass di.

the Taylor 414 used on this one....

nobody's into acoustic on this board?

It's a mystery to me why no one commented, other than I didn't see the post either. The playing is top notch, the recording is good, the vocals are spot on, I really like the harmonies. Musically it had hints (i said hints, nothing overt) of faster paced simon and garfunkle, csny, america, bread tunes - but with a completely different vocal style. I don't know why but I was getting a proggy feeling vocally - maybe some more straightforward elp or yes that doesn't hurt my head. I think it had a great groove - really moved - didn't falter and I liked the percussion elements alot - great motion. That's it off the top of my head.

one hour to get there
riding with the wind at our backs
top down, stars above
in a chrome-fast cadillac

hey man, can you pass it around?
the time is flying right on by
everybody's gettin' ready now
with a righteous gleam in their eyes

High time, is catchin' a ride
waiting for the sun to arrive
morning glory shine on my face
reminds me that i'm alive

Ocean plays no favorite
mountain's got no one she adores
but if you're feeling just right
you'll be having a little more, oh yea

hey man, can you pass it around?
the time is flying right on by
everybody's gettin' ready now
with a righteous gleam in my eye

High time, is catchin' a ride
waiting for the sun to arrive
morning glory shine on my face
remind me that i'm alive

I don't say much when I get to the mountains either. I just sit there, take it in, and enjoy. So in that regard, this song (and let's be honest, all of your songs) are like the mountains.

Just great stuff, man.

sounds pro. I don't have anything to say that would be helpful. I just wish I could make stuff that sounds this good.

hey man, thanks for checking it out after all!

faster paced simon and G, eh?
heheh, man they were really good back in the day.
certaint things i really loved, others kind of turned me off...
i guess CSNY and zep is really more where i'm coming from,
but any well done acoustic tune, that has a rock edge to it, gets me.

i do have a lot of prog influences, and actually, i'm trying to introduce as much of THAT KIND of thing into the 'mix' of my arrangements as i dare, and still hold onto a good 'song', that tells a story.
i've got an entire albums' worth of instrumentals ready to go, that IS a bit progressive.
thanks again!

appreciate it man. glad you dig it.

thanks for listening.
yep, mountains, for me, it's like going to church.
it IS my church.
i get that, and so do you.
peace.

aaronmcoleman

as far as making it, just do a thousand mixes, like i have!
LOL

Can't think of much to critique here... Sounds very well done. Keep up the good work!

thanks for listening and commenting.
i appreciate it!

This is great. Song, recording, performance. Definitely agree with the zep CSNY direction. Like the percussion.

toad_uk
thanks man, i really appreciate it.

hand percussion is tricky sometimes...
some folks like it, some don't.
the trick is finding a way to drive the rhythm of the song, without becoming annoying ("more cowbell")
:D

thanks man, appreciate the listen and comment.
i've got a bunch of acoustic stuff, i just haven't finished mixing.
i get distracted by my amp distortion.
LOL
