Very good, very tight. Rocked my little PC speakers!!! I can't imagine how much better this would be on the monitors.

Reminded me a lot of the Dixie Dregs.

Fantastic! I'd love to know what equipment your using for the guitar tracks. I took the opportunity to listen to some of your other recording too. Who are your influences? I detect a hint of Satriani, and maybe a bit of Neal Schon. Am I right?

well, first off, this was a real blast to record....... one afternoon, after the drums were programmed..... very loud, guitars were obnoxiously loud in a small bedroom, actually, across the hall in the master bedroom...... at the end part, the funky part, while i'm letting the guitars feedback forever, the neighbor's dog started howling, i was cracking up, hoping it wouldn't come through the recording, but it was funny all the while.......

mesa boogie mark 2b, 60 watts..... into (2) single 12 roland enclosures, with 30 watt celestions......
boss ds-1 driving the lead.....
sm57 close miced on the cabs......
all effects added on mixdown......
no-name p-bass style, emgs, straight into the board after going through a tube mp.......
drums were done on a roland 505 machine (vintage)
handclaps were multitracked live......

influences..... ritchie blackmore, jeff beck, holdsworth, brand x, jimmy page, al dimeola.......

and Cher...........LOL
 
I enjoyed the tone of your guitar/amp. It has a certain balls out roughness that I find potent. Recording the guitars at extremely high volumes is a must to acheive this kind of tone. I would never guesed that you were using a Mesa Boggie though. I have played them before, but never like the extremely compressed heavy sound. I was playing a triple rectifier though. Maybe I've been missing out on something with some of their other models. Anyway, keep up the good work, and I look forward to hearing your future projects.

Jeezus man, first you make me listen to a beautiful acoustic piece that almost forced me to run myself through with my guitar, and now you blow me away with something like this that tells me I should just break my guitar up into pieces to feed the monster that lives inside that beautiful, six string, electric rock smasher of yours ! I loved it. NIce inviting sound. Clear bass, clear punchy kick, lovely guitar, well balanced sound. Can it get better?

I bet you'd like some of Marty Friedman's solo-work. He got some odd techniques you might find handy.

yes, i'm a firm believer in taking tube amps, and finding their sweet spot, no matter what the volume required to do so, and using the voodoo that's in there, but it does hurt my ears!
the mark 2b, they quit making about 18 years ago, so you'd have to buy a used one to get one..... those old amps, they seem a little more musical, to me they're more like really hotrodded fenders, versus the new ones (which i love) that have a much more aggressive tone and grind.....i'm using 6l6's, so there's really not too much compresssion, which allows a little more expressiveness, i think.....

thanks for giving it a listen. it really was just for fun, one of those pieces i catch shit for about the wanking issues.....
the bass guitar sound, i did work on for a bit.... it's got a little more growl on it than usual, i think i might use that sound more often.....

Does anyone remember that band "Trouble?" Your name kicked off that memory for me. I think they were out of Seattle during the whole grunge thing. I saw them once opening for Danzig... they had a semi-hit called "Psychotic Reaction" that got some play on the old Headbanger's Ball...

Anyway, great stuff, very rocking. A little muddy, there's a lot going on in the lower mids, but it rocks anyway.

scoped out the name when i came up with it, realized someone else was there before me, but the names' up for grabs now, i guess......
wouldn't bum me out if i had to drop it....
yes, a little muddy in the mids, tape transfer did that....

I saw trouble open up for Queensryche. They weren't bad, but they got booed off the stage. Everyone was too impatient for QR to take the stage. This is back when queensryche did Mind Crime from start to finish. Great show!
