I have been having a lot of trouble recording my voice to tracks that I have created through BIAB 2012.5. The backing track keeps cutting out and back in randomly as I am trying to sing with the music. This has never happened before and I have been using Band in a Box since 2004. Their tech support keeps telling me that nothing is wrong -- it must be my computer....
So, in the back of my closet I have a TASCAM 788 that I bought brand new in 2000. I never had time to learn to use it, but I think that it may be my only savior at this point. You see, hula music is quite different from just regular old recordings of Hawaiian music and they haven't made that kind of music since the 1970s. In order to make recordings that my dancers can rely on, I have been making my own.
I just got the TASCAM out of the closet and I am immediately stymied. I have the CD player that goes with it (ancient, I know) but here's what I need to do:
I want to somehow get the backing track into the 788, then I want to record my voice singing over the backing track. I usually can do this in one take, so I don't really care about the punch in/punch out. If I don't like it, I can do the whole thing over.
That's it. I just need 2 tracks. Also, if there is any way I can connect the TASCAM to my PC for playback that would be nice.
Can someone help me? Please?
