Lol. Okay then. Do you really think I'd do it if it sounded strange?
Do you have an example of this I can listen to at all?
I understand that the OHs will be picking up the hats of course, but there is no way round not hearing the hats more when the gate opens.

Sure thing. Links in my sig. Knock yourself out.

The only time hi hat bleed in the snare mic is a problem is when the hat is too loud compared to the snare. That is cause by either the mic pointing the wrong way or the drummer beating the crap out of the hat while gently tapping on the snare. If that is happening, there is nothing you can really do to save it other than resample. That problem will also exist in the overheads.

A drum set is one instrument, not a collection of instruments. The drummer needs to handle the dynamics as he is playing the part. If the snare is supposed to be louder than the hat, he needs to play it that way.

Aside from moving the hi-hat high and wide, not putting any compression on the snare channel helps minimise alot of the hat bleed.

Listened to the 1st song. Yeah sounds ok to me. There is not much hats in the Mix though, so bleed would not really be a problem here anyway.
It didn't seem to knock me out...

Go ahead and listen to the others so you can guess which ones were gated and which ones weren't, and then come back and admit that you have no clue what you're talking about. Go ahead, I'll wait for you...........:D
