OMG!
Alright.. so my band, The Premier, started recording some new songs. Today, we did some vocals on a song.

I'm aware that they're not perfect and I know that there are a few little things that don't sound good.. but if you could give some comments on how it sounds so far, it would be awesome. Thanks.

i would say the snare sounds way boxy....try pulling out something arround 400? but use your ears... and add a bit up between 6-8...maybe 10, to bring out some crack...

maybe push some click in the kick too...for the style i would assume something like the used.. maybe just bring the kick up a bit..

over all.

i like the guitar.. maybe push it up more, just under the vox..
vocals...pulll some lo's out, or cut ..
drums sound boxy..

i think its a good mix, just needs to be brightened up a bit..

but im not a professional...

I still haven't mixed it too much. This is a really, really rough mix.

I was just kinda cuious how everything sounded in general, tracking-wise I guess.

To start, I want to say that I really like your band, and the overall feel of the music is good. All of the instruments (including the vocals) were tracked just fine in my opinion, and only need some adjusting in the mix. I know it said it's really rough, and I'd love to hear how it turns out after you commit to a mix.

To me, it sounds like really good early Thursday, TBS stuff, and don't hate me if you don't like those bands - I just happen to love them and I intended that as a compliment. Where are you guys from? If you're ever in the San Francisco, CA area, we could easily share some shows together. Good day!

wow pretty good and different. I liked everything minus a few of the vocals that went off key. The energy is great! very free. my interest kept growing as the song went on............

For what it's worth, I actually *like* that some of the vocals were off-key. It gives it that Victory Records-ish, Geoff Rickley feel that sounds "honest." Personally, I wouldn't re-track the vocals, I would just add some compression and sit them just a bit more in the mix. Also, I like the chant screams around 2:38 or so. I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. Just my $0.02!

Thanks, guys. The thing that stinks for me is that I can't stand when a singer goes off. Haha. Looks like I'll have to be a hypocrite with my band. Oh well.

I personally don't like TBS too much, but I understand what you mean.

Whenever I get some finished mixes, I'll be putting them on here. Hopefully it all comes together nicely.

We're from Pennsylvania. I don't know how soon we'll get to California.. but trust me, we will. Heh.

Thanks alot. :)

Interesting song. Lots of twists and turns. That's pretty cool.

The recording in generel seems a bit dull. No mid-high/high end.

The vocal part at 1:50 is just total cacophony. It's very distracting. It made me want to turn it off. It was just really in your face. I think there needs to be some better balance there. Maybe with panning or something.

Heh. That isn't supposed to be in there. I forgot to mute that track when mixing down. Heh.
