Damn!

That's exactly what I want, except it looks like they're only making it in TV yellow. I freakin' hate TV yellow! I just want the natural mahogany, or even black.

It's probably a good thing that it only comes in that color. That way I'm not as upset about not being able to afford it.

You know, if they can make the double cutaway version for $800, why not a similarly-priced single cutaway?

Gibson, are you listening?

What am I saying? Gibson doesn't listen to cutomers...

I betcha the Custom Shop can do you up a right nice one, in tobacco sunburst.

And you're right, there is absolutely no justification for the price. It should be priced as the original was, in between a Junior and a Standard, closer to a Junior.

Hey, ZB

Maybe you could buy on of those and drop an EMG in the bridge, and tele hot rail in the neck slot, and a mini humbucker in the middle. That way you could do some maximum carving. :D

Yeah, what's their justification for the price of the 'Billy Joe' Jr., when it's essentialy the same guitar that they were selling for half that a couple of years ago.

Oooooh. Tobacco burst.

Probably only cost about 2 grand extra for that.

That's what that TV Yellow can inspire a man to do! :D

You've got a point there

If I had a TV yellow, I wouldn't think twice about attempting my own refinishing with some Krylon.

Probably BJA gets half the proceeds from every one they sell.

Seriously, when you are looking at a Zakk Wylde (sp?) LP for over $4,000, how much do you think the artist is getting per instrument? I have no idea.

And I wouldn't mind that so much if it wasn't the only one they sold. If some kid wants to talk his parents into the signature guitar, fine. But I want to be able to buy one that isn't.

Yeah, I agree.

Hey, how do you like the Melody Maker they're selling for $350?

I'm thinking I might have to buy one before someone endorses the fucking thing and runs the price up to $1,500. :D

I thought about one only because

I had one in high school, but it was a double cut. I decided I would take my chances that they'll come out with a double cut again. For some reason, that's one guitar that I'd rather have the double cut version. I guess because that's what I had.

It was really a great guitar, I wish I hadn't sold it. I saw it a few years later, and someone had put a humbucker in it. You've never lived in Indiana, have you? :p

The pickup on that thing was incredible, though. Great bite. Reminds me of the intro to Bowie's 'Rebel, Rebel'.

You can be sure I'd never admit it to you, if I had! :p

But, hey, are you saying you had a double-cut Melody Maker? I'll bet that was sweet. :)

Yeah, but it was an Epi. But that was back when Epis were really Gibsons.

Come to think of it, I never really did know what year it was. I think it was an early 60s, but I don't really know. In those days, I didn't care about that kind of stuff, besides, an early 60s anything was something I wanted to distance myself from. That would have been considered old junky stuff then (early to mid 70s).

I've got one that I bought used in 1968. It's the same cut as a LP Jr, but half as thick. I refinished it, put dual humbuckers on it, and changed the bridge out for a tune-o-matic. I wish I'd left it stock.

I still have it. It's a bit neck heavy, but it plays great.

I feel your pain.

I installed a humbucker in the bridge position in my, ahem, bound-neck, tobacco-burst '72 LP Special reissue, and had to rout the body out a bit to do it.

I wish I'd left mine stock, too, if for no other reason than robbing notCardio of the fun he gets harassing me. :D Otherwise, I love it as a working guitar.
