Gentlemen, and I do use that term loosely.

If I could be so rude as to shamelessly hijack this thread and please direct your attention to my latest effort over in the clinic.

Just finished laying down concept vocal tracks with my partner in crime and could really appreciate some fresh ears!

Certainly not as polished as the "Hey Moskus Singers" most recent effort, buy hey, we makes do with what we've gotses...

Thank you for your forbearance. This thread is now returned to normal control.

:) Q.

But I'll check out the tune anyway... :)

DANG!!!
We don't want to let it sliped to page 7, do we? :D

Dachay, I got some question for you regarding Asus P4P800. I think we both have about similiar setup here. I run Sonar 3 PE on P4P800, WinXP Home, 1 Gig RAM, Delta 1010LT, dual 40Gigs 7200 and CD RW (Primary slave), NVidia Pro M64 32Meg. No other card in any PCI slot but the Delta (farest from AGP). I got the system running realy fast and reliable for about four months. These last two weeks, I heard some crackle and pop noises in the mix. Like the old Via KT PCI latency problem. I didn't do anything fancy with the system. Not even tried to move the card to another available PCI slot, since everything *was* woking fine. I run Delta driver ver. 0.36. I'm aware for IRQ conflict etc. No problem. So, I'm not sure what went wrong here. Is there anything I must keep my eyes on with the system? Any news I must know about this mobo? Just curious. Thanks, dachay :)

Have you cleaned your audio folders and defragged lately?
How full is your audio drive?I've heard that you need a certain amount of free space for the drive to perform optimally for audio.

So how was vacation?

It should'nt be "Hey Moskus"
It should be "Where's Moskus?"

Maybe he's too busy being a Moskerator on the TOF.

LATER!!!

Howdy Scooter.. long time No C... I' been briefly in and out for a bit now. Im trying to work more and harder so I can pay more taxes...I love the ruling class. They let us work for them and then we get to have fun and pretend that work for us even though they dont!!! They are so nice. All the money they pay us for working so hard is just money, so we play games and have fun by giving the money back to them and they feel real good too afterwards. We dont mind cause they`ll give it back to us again over time.... I think America has the best money game in town, it`s all virtual! :p

Hi James. Hi John. Hi Ken. Hi Acid. (didn't we already do this about 500 pages ago?) :D

Ken - those of us in the ruling class appreciate your attitude. Keep that money coming in. :p

James - my system is very similar to yours - however I use the 1010 rather than the 1010LT, and I also have a different graphics card.

The mobo is still pretty much right out of the box. I haven't done any BIOS updates or anything at all to it. Don't know offhand what BIOS version I am running, but if you want to know, I can check it out. I am using a P4, 2.8 GHz processor with an 800 FSB.

I'm not having any particular problems (except with volume envelopes in Sonar 3 - but that's a different issue :) ).

In your case, beyond what Acid suggested, I would look at video acceleration settings, disabling USB, installing the OS in non-ACPI mode (terminology??), or disabling the onboard audio (both in Windows and in the BIOS).

None of that would explain why you didn't have problems previously, but they're worth a try. Try them one at a time to see if things improve. If not, return them to their original settings.

The other thing to look at is whether you have installed new drivers for anything recently, or done any updates to the OS. These would be more likely explanations as to why you didn't have problems previously.

Are getting the noise in both recording and playback, or just playback? Good luck and I hope you get it resolved.

Hi Jagular, Hi Toki, Hi acidrock, Hi dachay, Hi everyone! :)

Vacation? Are you kidding? LOL!... I just got new job after 2 months unemployed :o It takes more of my time, but abit worth the effort. I can save (read: sneakin' from wifey :D ) ~$400 more every month now. Now they make mistake by alowing me to connect my working PC to internet. They'll sorry for that :D

Dachay, so far I didn't upgrade the BIOS either. I checked my HD space, more than 40% free on each one. I'd defraged 'em every week as I recall. It happens only when recording. I have no playback problem. When I record single 24/48 audio track for more than ~20 sec, then minor spikes start printed on the wave. I've tried disabling anything including onboard 3Com LAN from BIOS. The problem is still exist. I'm not realy sure, I didn't have much time to examine deeper into the problem. I'll go check it again in couple days. Thanks dachay :)

ps. It's spring already, do we have to wait for summer to jam again? :D Any sight of moskus, porter, Pedulist and BluesMeister?

;)

James - is this on one project in particular, or on every project?

If it's on one project, I'm thinking you might need to increase your latency. Perhaps the combination of track count and number/type of plugins on that project are taxing your system.

Worth a try to move the latency slider and see if it clears up.

ps. It's spring already, do we have to wait for summer to jam again? Any sight of moskus, porter, Pedulist and BluesMeister?
I'm ready!!! :D Except someone else has to be the producer/engineer on the next one. I was bad in that role.

Moskus is M.I.A. Porter, BlueMeister and Ped (Trojka) can be found more often on the "other" site.

I'm here, how is everyone. Just been camping for the week.. packed up a day early because there was a hint of rain.. on most Porter's camping trips it rains the last day or two. Luckily we did, got a report that it rained last night. Would have meant drying out the tent all day tomorrow.. only have to clean it up now.

Jaymz, I thought you were working away from home with you old job.. I just assumed that you were still away from home..

Hi everyone else, you already know who you are! good to see the hey moskus club is still around
Im still having a "No time to play" crisis
So I guess its an epidemic

Peace
Bill

Dachay, I got it!!! :D
It's antivirus autoupdate that runs in background causing the problem. My primary DAW is not connected to internet, and AVG keeps looking for path to upgrade virus database periodicaly. It's not enough to close the main application. You need to Ctrl+alt+del and shut down it's autoupdate from task manager. Glad to find I don't have to use hammer to fix it as usual :D

Jagular! That's realy awesome website of yours! :)

Porter, I'm no longer working as consultant because my contract acomplished. Whatever your job now, believe me... it's getting bussier than ever :p Thank God we still have time for wine on Friday....

Ugly Dutchboy is MIA. He's bussy releasing the kraken. Last time I heard he wants to grow his hair up to his belly... hmmm strange... :D

Moskus... I am spechless... :D

Spin.... welcome to your new "I'm so close to ...." thread.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
