It's probably not a good thing if no one responds to your posts...

Oh. It's a 5 minute song. That's your problem. We're a notoriously impatient bunch here. Post a bunch of short, accessible songs until you have a following in the clinic. Then, post the 5 minute progstravaganzas and hope your momentum brings some posts?

Anyway, the song seems fine to me. Nothing sticks out as bad or out-of-place. The song itsself isn't really my style, but the recording seems decent.

The big yell around 4:45 is pretty cool, but it's a bit too much of a wait for that payoff.

You might tell your vocalist to use some consonants next time. :D

hey, thanks alot for the tips!
"progstravaganzas" i like that alot!
make sense about my lack of cred here, and the consonants? yeah, i can already see that being a problem! he says he likes the "drunk speak" hahah

nice to meet ya mr. VomitHatSteve. good day to you sir!

The cred thing was one of those 90% serious jokes. Theoretically, someone will listen to your mix even if they've never heard of you, but once you've posted a few mixes, some of the regulars who like your sound will be more apt to listen in. And once your thread has a few posts and has been bumped back to the top of the page a few times, it starts to look more popular, and more people will check in.

Here's my impressions/suggestions.

I really like the singers voice...nice vocal, maybe a little mushy pronunciation wise.

The snare seemed thin and papery to me, my ears wanted to hear more body with reverb ,but set back in the mix. Also I wasnt digging playing the bell of the ride cymbal..it seemed like the song called for more of a open sound, meaning moving to the body or even edge of the ride cymbal.
Maybe even the HH, not so tight. Just less percusive sounds.

And lastly, I was expecting it to kick in a little earlier...but I did stay intersted.

Just my 2 cents . The recording quality sound real nice...good job!

Very dramatic! :) Excellent mix, great performance, needs work on the chorus. Good idea though, just lacks punch and energy!

That'll do pig... That'll do. I really enjoyed this, and really a great vocal. Nice sparse arrangement, I like the intensity in the vocals, and couldn't really follow the song lyrically, but it seemed to flow well. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I think it's good? It's on, I'm listening to it, I'm feeling it, but when it's over? All I'm left with is "that was pretty cool." :-) As opposed to yeah, that cause or person sucks, or is great? So it's more "subliminal..." which I think makes it more powerful. It feels a little dark, but most of my music is dark, so that's not a bad thing.

I would brighten the mix? But my ears aren't the best.

thanks for the replies! We are currently trying to find a better chorus that clicks. i like the idea of brightening the mix a tad. thanks again!
