Nice job. From the White Album IIRC. As noted, the bass and drums are working real nice together. Good mix. Nothing to nitpick here in my book.

I usually don't like covers of Lennon, since his voice is so unique. But you cover this well, without really sounding like him. Good effects on the vox as well.

BTW, I like the ending this way. :)

Thanx alot, Dachay....Yeah, I've done other covers and tried to sound like the singer to the best of my ability. But with Lennon, I just said to myself "Cover the tune because you like it so much, but just sing it. Don't try to sing like John...because you can't".:D

Rami...

Very good job! I like the extended intro, nice build up to the verse. Excellent "Oh Yeah's" - specially the third one -very Lennonesque.

I like the abrupt ending.

Awesome. I agree that the hi hat is a little up front. The ending is more abrupt than maybe I would like, especially with the opportunity for a killer lead there.

No, I didn't like it.

It's a bit too much of a modern sounding DI recorded takeoff of the song for my tastes.

Here's another place you can be. Listen to me!

I think the Beatles were a group who derived most of their inspiration after hearing the Ramones!:eek:;)

Hi RAMI

I guess it sounds DI (direct-in on guitars/bass), which is another way to say lacking ambience. Sometimes a mic'd track can lack ambience, but most of the time it's a DI technique that does it.

I didn't say it's not good. I just said I didn't like it. The original has a "60s" sound to it, that this cover doesn't have. That's all. No big. This is a bit of a takeoff on the song, but I prefer original arrangements. Compared to your Cooper covers, which are scary good. Alternately, your cover of "Me and My Monkey" was also super traditional sounding, which I liked a lot.

Summary: I prefer more ambient sounding tracks over a "DI" type of sound which is common today. Also, I prefer more traditional arrangements of classic covers, rather than "take-off" versions. That's just MO.

I know you've heard my stuff. I know you'd never consider my posts to be hijacks of your threads. I'm just here to make you look good!

Thanx!

Ah, DI...No, the guitars are miced. Bass is direct. Thanx man.

It's a good recording, and on a certain level I like it.

So don't get me wrong, but I know you're capable of giving this song a "60s-sound" if u wanted. This version has a really modern sound, which in my mind clashes with the original acid-washed sound on the record.

The guitar/bass sound is very in-yo-face, which I relate mostly to "DI", but mic'd tracks sometimes sound like that. YMMV.

My track was recorded over 10 years ago & is very sloppy compared to yours. Maybe not a good comparison.

Whether this is one of my favorite RAMI tracks or not, it's good. You rock.;)

Hey Dave,

No problem, man. I understand what you're saying, and this is the reason I post here, to get opinions and insight.

You're right...While I didn't TRY to give this a modern sound, I didn't try to replicate the 60's feel on it either. It comes down to personal taste at that point and I can understand why many people would prefer the original. Actually, I'd be surprised if someone didn't prefer the original....It's the BEATLES for Christ's sakes!!!! :) :D

A cover to me is just a little nod to a tune I really like. I put way less importance on them than I do my originals. Some songs are probably easier than others to replicate...But either way, I always do a cover in one day, where an original can take weeks and months of re-working and re-tracking.

I totally appreciate your opinion on this one, man. :)

LOVE IT!

I love the original and this is a great version!....wish it was longer!
Great voice!;)

Cheers

Thanx Joey. :) It's one of those tunes I always said I'd like to re-do and finally got around to doing it.:)
